A dynamic microphone or Condensor microphone for Podcasting?
I personally use dynamic mics, mainly to cancel out background noise. Although, I have heard condenser mics sound more clear (Note, the cost is a factor in sound quality)

DYNAMIC MICROPHONE:

You can use it in a non-controlled area (background noise won’t be a huge factor with this microphone). The reason you can use this mic in a non-controlled area is it only picks up sound directly through the top, and virtual no sound will be picked up from the sides and back of the microphone.

~ Most, if not all dynamic mics – do not require phantom power, and some are plug n’ play, where you only have to plugin with a usb directly to your computer (so great if you want to get started recording right away!). But some, like the Shure SM7B use an XLR port, which requires an audio interface in order to use./

The microphone I use: Sampson Q2U (Currently priced at $59.00) I personally love this mic! and think the sound quality is pretty nice for podcasting.

I’ve seen this mic used by a ton of podcasters and they swear by it: Shure SM7B (Currently priced at $399.00) Not sure if the sound outweighs the price tag though, as I havent used it. btw, if you’ve tried this mic out let me know what you think in the comments.

CONDENSOR MICROPHONES:

I’ve heard (haven’t owned one myself) that these mics have a really good sound, really clear. The only drawback I see with this microphone is you must have a controlled recording area, including noise cancellation in all directions because this will pick up from all sides of the mic.

~ Note may also need an audio interface and phantom power to run these mics as well.

This one comes with phantom power, which you need to run the mic, but you will also need an audio interface to connect it to the computer.
